This is the famous Garrett Popcorn of Chicago during Christmas. In this painting I was exploring patterns and saturated colors to capture the mood and vibrancy of the season. This image had the complexity of pattern to allow for experimentation with colors. This approach can be seen in earlier paintings such as The ‘L’ and Wildflowers. The original photo that I worked from was taken by Mary Ann Steinhaus.
