This is the painting I did as a demonstration with the Hinsdale High School students. I was the Art Department’s keynote speaker. I gave two 2-hour presentations, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I enjoyed sharing my love of watercolors and being able to encourage young artists.
The dark colors in this painting are very saturated and have a great texture to them. I’m playing the cool colors off the warmth of the sunrise to create this dynamic tension. The sky is made up of five separate washes.
