Watercolors 24"x48" 2011 This is the South Haven Michigan Harbor. I really tried pushing the color palette with this image. This painting is four feet wide. There are over 20 washes in the sky and water. I was struggling to make this painting come together. Near the end of this painting I was watching a movie about Jean-Michel Basquiat. Inspired I attacked this painting with two very intensive washes, first with bright orange, then turquoise, over the entire painting including the buildings. It was exactly what the painting needed to come together.
