This painting was taken from an image I captured in 1981 for my college photography class. It is from a series of images taken from the driver’s perspective of my 1977 Chevette. This particular stretch of road is US Route 64 west of Sycamore, Illinois. From this vantage point you could see five miles to the horizon with not another car in sight. The original image is very strong but needed the saturated flat patterns of colors to pull it together. The sunset is captured by a series of six separate washes.
